The multi-gabled appearance of this High Victorian Gothic Revival home is achieved through the use of thirteen gabled hoods over the windows of the second story. A boxed cornice, molded frieze, and arrow-shaped decoration extend around all volumes. Every window in the building except for one small rear one is the same unique shape- that of a flattened Gothic arch, similar to a flattened trefoil without the additional tracery, or in a shape of a keyhole. The surrounds of the windows on the first story are heavily molded with added eye-brow molding above the lintel and plain brackets beneath the sills. Windows of the second story are recessed beneath the steeply pointed Gothic hoods, along the roof-line, and between lintel and arch is a cut work fleury. The original shutters, in the same keyhole shape of the windows, have been restored and mounted. The flattened arch of the lower windows appears above the transom of the double entrance doors and above the rear doors.
Aside from actual structures on the property, much of its charm stems from its location, commanding a view of the property to the east, and Taylor Mountain to the north as well as the valley which extends north to Santa Rosa and south to Cotati Ranch. The Gables has been a focal point between Santa Rosa, and Petaluma to the South for many years, and is highly recognizable to local residents.
